Key Stage 3 Introduction

Year 7:

Students visit Systems and Control over a nine week period on a rotation basis. They design and make a steady hand game. This introduces them to a wide range of skills and knowledge. Students create the circuit board and solder components in place. They create a function and attractive housing for their circuit to complete the game.

Year 8:

Students design, programme and make a circuit board which is then used to control their mood light. Students construct the lights using a range of resistant and compliant materials.  Students create a complex circuit board, solder a wide range of components in place and design an individual top for the lamp.

Year 9:

Using the skills developed in Years 7 and 8, students are able to progress further by planning and constructing lights to go on the child's toy made in the Resistant Materials rotation.
