Pastoral Support
We believe there should be an active partnership between teachers, students, and parents. From experience, we know that Sixth Form students are successful when this partnership is supportive and effective.
As parents, you will receive a number of reports from subject teachers who are always contactable via email or telephone. There are always one to one support or small group revision sessions being provided above and beyond the normal lesson contact time (for example during breaks or after school).
As well as daily contact with the Form Tutor, the students are supported and motivated by their Head of Year, whose door is always open.
During the build-up and within the critical time of UCAS applications, Mr Martin is proactively seeking out the best personal statements and helping students understand the demands of different higher education and vocational options. The support for this is second to none. It would be hard to find a more rigorous but caring programme in the area.
We have four members of staff supporting the students and the Sixth Form team: Mrs Hulse, Ms Lim, Mrs Warren, and Ms Hemmings, as our School Counsellor.
We are happy to meet you outside of the scheduled Parents’ Evenings to ensure students are happy, confident and achieving their potential. We can assure you that we are proactive in identifying and addressing any issue that may be hindering a student’s progress. We contact home quickly where there are academic, attendance or pastoral concerns. This generally results in a personal learning plan being designed to support students, action points to refocus and facilitate a successful outcome.
