Extra-Curricular Activities
Opportunities
We are active participants in local and national competitions as well as initiatives. These typically fall in the areas of public speaking, debating, marketing, business and enterprise, engineering, technology, problem-solving, holocaust education, sports, performance, media, religion and law – to name a few! We also annually send many students to residential summer schools and programmes at top UK universities.
Enrichment Programme Options:
We offer a comprehensive enrichment programme that includes a wide range of sports and a variety of courses to develop your personal skills.
Sport includes: football, netball, rugby, basketball, volleyball, and yoga. We also offer free use of the Spectrum, which includes use of the gym, swimming pool, classes and sports.
Courses include: student-led debate club, band workshop, Young Enterprise, teaching assistant experience, peer mentoring, Higher Education conference, work experience week and a lecture programme with keynote speakers.
Healthy Lifestyles
As noted above, we are pleased to confirm that our Sixth Formers are able to use all of the facilities at the Spectrum, not only on a Wednesday afternoon which is allocated for sport/games but any other time during the week. Further details are issued during the induction period.
We aim to have competitive teams in basketball, netball, rugby, and football. Sixth Formers are key members of the Duke of Edinburgh and ski trip groups running throughout the school. Education in lifestyle and personal choices are run in daily tutor time for both Years 12 and 13.
Positions of Leadership and Responsibility
Students are invited to apply for Student Leader posts. These roles are key in developing both the students’ personal skills and in facilitating excellent relationships between the different year groups of students and staff, thus creating a vibrant community for learning.
