Special Liturgies
Confession is available in Advent and Lent. This is preceded by Key Stage catechesis and examination of conscience, after which students can pick up an appointment card.
Student led Ash Wednesday liturgies are held for each year group, with distribution of blessed ashes kindly supplied by the Guildford Parish.
We mark Armistice Day with prayer slides or a live-stream into classrooms that lead into the two-minute silence, with many students also present in the peace garden for a short service. November is a month of remembrance for all departed loved ones, and students are invited to tie a ribbon to the tree and say a prayer in the peace garden in memory of their loved ones.
Our annual Carol Service takes place at St Joseph’s Church, to which all our families are welcome. This features congregational carols, traditional readings, and original reflections and prayers led by our students. We miniaturise this for the last day of term at St Pius X Church so that every year group can share the joy.
In times of grief felt for staff and students past and present, we pull together as a community and gather for prayer and memorials according to the wishes of the family. Names are recorded in our St Peter’s book of remembrance, and memorial plaques are placed in the Peace Garden.
