Catholic School

November 2019 - Re-accreditation Result

St Peter’s has again been formally recognised for its commitment to careers planning by being awarded the prestigious Quality in Careers Standard.

The Quality in Careers Standard is the single national quality award for careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) in schools, colleges and work-based learning.

All state-funded secondary schools are “strongly recommended” by the Department for Education in its Statutory Guidance to work towards, achieve and maintain this national Standard as part of its careers strategy.

Rigorous assessment

To gain the national standard, St Peter’s underwent rigorous external assessment over a number of months, supplying detailed evidence to demonstrate that they met the national accreditation criteria in their overall careers provision.

Careers fully embedded in the school curriculum

The Gatsby Benchmarks are fully incorporated into the standard and St Peter's had to evidence the impact of these on students' learning and on leadership, management and staff development, confirming that careers education at St Peter's is fully embedded in the curriculum.

Assessment for the Quality in Careers Standard also involved the evaluation of feedback from parents, employers, students and staff on the impact of careers learning, and St Peter’s assessor met with representatives from these groups to discuss in more detail.
