St Peter’s will use its specialist status to create a challenging environment which raises the already high standard of achievement and the quality of teaching and learning in Science.
As part of the status St Peter’s will be working with its partner schools in Guildford to offer new and exciting opportunities for students in the area. The school is planning to run evening courses in Forensics, Astronomy and Environmental Science, which will be starting in the new academic year.
The Headteacher of St Peter’s, Robert Guinea, said he is very excited by the prospect of this new status; “We will be able to offer some really challenging courses, not only for our students and those in our partner schools, but also for members of the local community.”
Robert Guinea is particularly pleased to be using the status to further develop links with Surrey University and local science based companies. He added that “good Science education is critical to the development of our economy” and he expects students at St Peter’s to take full advantage of the new and exciting opportunities which will be opening up for them.
