Alumni Spring Garden Party 2017

St Peter’s welcomes back past students to its Alumni Spring Garden Party

A welcoming Pimms, cream tea, tour around the school and a ‘past, present, future’ update from the Headteacher, Toby Miller, was on offer at St Peter’s Spring Garden Party for 85 past students, many of whom attended the school in the 1950s, 60s, 70s and 80s.

The sun shone as they reminisced about their past experiences, shared anecdotes and enjoyed a catch-up!   A visit around the grounds of Merrow Grange (which used to be part of the old school) was kindly arranged through the current residents – a treasured experience for those attending the event.

Many of the past students signed up to continue their links with St Peter’s and help current students with career chats, student mentoring and work experience.  Mrs Cathy Thompson (Careers Co-ordinator) commented, ‘our alumni are great role models for our current students and can offer good practical advice about joining the world of work.  We are grateful for offers of work experience or work shadowing for our current students, which provide opportunities for them to sample sectors that they are interested in.  This all helps our students to raise their aspirations.’
